CAMPAIGN FINANCE
The Greens are committed to transparent, accurate and timely disclosure of campaign donations. We also never take donations from tobacco interests, property developers and the gambling industry, and advocate a ban on such donations to all politicians and candidates.
The Local Government Act and Regulations require candidates to complete an election campaign donation return within 40 days of election day, disclosing the size and origin of all donations of $500 or more. This means that voters do not know where campaign teams’ donations are coming from until after they have voted. We believe that this system is broken.
The Greens have committed to voluntarily disclosing all reportable campaign donations in advance of election day. We are also sharing this data with Hyperlocal News for full transparency.
